Vegas Baby!

Vegas Baby!

Travel to the US right now is a hot topic. We recently went to Las Vegas for business and to get together with family. The whole experience was a positive one, from one on one conversations with “real local people” to some top notch Vegas hospitality. We were welcomed and treated with respect and sometimes even empathy and apology. Having positive interactions with humans is the best way to bring forward togetherness and a fine way to disperse fear. The thing I welcomed the most was the diversity of people that you can see walking around the streets of Las Vegas, from sweatpants to rhinestones, you see it all!

Here are some of the highlights of our recent adventure to the Pizza expo and more!

The Pizza Expo itself is quite a show and there is so much to see! It can be overwhelming at times. Think about everything it would take to run a pizzeria and you will find it there. From ovens, to pizza peels, to pizza trucks, and all kinds of ingredients. There are demos, seminars, and competitions. Some highlights for me were seeing some of my old baking industry friends and the new pizza industry friends I am making.

One of the food destinations outside of the Pizza Expo on our Vegas journey was Tony Gemignanis’ “Pizza Rock”. Tony is one of the most famous pizza chefs in the world. He is a 13 time World Pizza Champion and has an outstanding knowledge of every style of pizza out there. For example at his new place in Vegas you can enjoy any one of these styles of pizza: Pizza Napoletana, Pizza Romano, Classic American, Classic Italian, Grandma, Sicilian Style, Detroit, California, Chicago Cracker Thin, and New York. Did you know there were so many styles of pizza? We had to go there twice in order to sample just a small amount of these styles. The pizza was great and well worth two visits. If you are in North Beach in San Francisco, you can visit “Tony's Pizzeria Napoletana” where he also makes a variety of pizza styles.

Another food highlight was the trip to All’Antico Vinaio sandwich shop. Made famous by the Mazzatini family in Florence, this renowned sandwich shop has locations around the world and now a location in Las Vegas. Every sandwich is made to order and even the meat is sliced on demand! It is a delicious sandwich made on a beautiful type of Italian flatbread. Everyone agreed it was worth the drive to the suburbs to enjoy this little slice of Italy. Stay tuned as we are so inspired that we are planning to add this style of panini to our sandwich roster.

I really loved our visit to the Neon Sign Museum. This place is amazing! We arrived at the golden hour in Vegas just before sunset when the light is soft and warm and has a golden hue.

We were able to see the signs during this light and then watch them dazzle against the night sky. This part of Vegas history is so interesting and the guides are very helpful and tell fascinating stories about the signs. The Museum is moving in the next couple of years, so if you get a chance to go before it moves I would highly recommend it.

One of the best moments for me personally was getting dressed up and going to see world famous burlesque performer extraordinaire Dita Von Tesse. The show was stunning and I met her after the show and it was amazing! She even set me up with a pose. I felt fabulous standing next to her at that moment. To me that feeling is priceless and I will carry that forward in my life.

All in all our trip to Vegas was Fabulous. The Pizza Expo was fun, the sight seeing and show was great, the food amazing, and most importantly hanging out with family was the absolute best. I would do it all over again!
