Giving Thanks

Giving Thanks - Christies Bakery

This has always been my favourite time of year and Thanksgiving has always been my favourite holiday, right from the start.

I remember sitting at my desk in elementary school and carefully gluing tiny pieces of tissue to paper trying to make the fluffiest, most perfect turkey craft anyone had ever seen. I have great memories of childhood Thanksgivings - the giant turkey, the piles of whipped cream atop pies, and the tradition of saying what we were thankful for (which my siblings thought was a chore but I secretly loved).

I have a great deal to be thankful for this year. We will be spending this holiday with my grown children and their partners which is extra special for me. I am thankful for my family of course and especially my nephew and two nieces who are gifts to our family. I am deeply thankful to be planning a wedding this year with a wonderful man who comes with a welcoming family. I’m also thankful for the simple things like cozy Sunday mornings, our beautiful river, and strong cups of tea because it really is the little things that add up to a life well lived.

Then there is Christies. When you work for a small local business, especially for years, the people you work alongside every day become family. I’ve had the privilege of sharing my days with countless folks during my Christies years and I know I’ve learned something from every single one of them. For this I am grateful. Blair and Tracey have always supported me as well, in good times and not-so-good just as family would. They’ve given me opportunities to grow within the company and trust my vision, which is pretty darn great and I’m grateful. And our customers! The connections and friendships I’ve made with our customers are so special. Knowing that they genuinely care and that I genuinely care in return is a gift for which I’m incredibly grateful.

I wish you all a wonderful holiday, full of Christies pie and thanks.
