An Interview with Eileen Laverty

An Interview with Eileen Laverty - Christies Bakery
Thanks for joining us so we can learn more about you Eileen!

1. Tell us a bit about you. What led you to a career in music? How long have you been performing? What style of music do you play?

My uncle Des taught me how to play the guitar when I was very young, and introduced me to Irish traditional music. In the early 90s, I joined an Irish band and from there discovered my love of performing. I love all kinds of music, but I’m particularly drawn to the folk singers, the storytellers, and I love a good ballad. I am a singer and songwriter, and I sing my own songs, as well as some of my favourite folk, pop, and country songs from some of my favourite singers and bands.
 2. The arts and music community in Saskatchewan is very special. Can you tell us a bit about why that is? What sets us apart?

I am grateful to be part of our Saskatchewan arts and music community. My experience has been that there is a collaborative, more than competitive, spirit among Saskatchewan people. We encourage and support one another, from words and notes of encouragement, attending each other's events, sharing contacts, to celebrating milestones and achievements. And the same is said for our wider community; the people in our province love and support the arts, which makes everything possible.

3. Why did you choose to collaborate with Christies for our event on May 27th?

Tracey and I have been friends for many years. We have shared many adventures together, and we are both passionate about four things: family, soccer, music, and a fine loaf of bread. Apart from playing soccer together in our youth, Christie’s Bakery was - and is - a regular stop for my family. I have always admired Tracey’s positive energy and endless optimism. So when Tracey invited me to collaborate with the Muzzolini clan, absolutely!
4. What exciting plans do you have for yourself artistically?
I’m currently focused on writing songs for a new recording. I plan to tour more extensively, to see where this wonderful adventure will take me!

We're excited to work with you, Eileen! See you soon!
