My YXE Bucket List

My YXE Bucket List - Christies Bakery

In three days I will be leaving Saskatoon to attend school in Vancouver. In preparation for our departure, my girlfriend and I put together a bucket list of Saskatoon restaurants to go to one last time before journeying out west. Over the past month or so we started crossing places off the list. I thought I’d share some of my personal favourite spots in Saskatoon so you might give them a try. They are listed in no particular order and on my list of faves for personal reasons.

9 Mile Brewing

Of course I would be making a stop at one of my favourite breweries in the world. It’s no secret that we have a not so hidden gem in Saskatoon with the folks at 9 Mile. I don’t think I’ve had a beer that I didn’t enjoy, and the same was true with my stop at their 20th Street location, where I started out with a flight of beers and ended with a pint… or two.

Stumbletown Distilling/High Key Brewing

The High Key team is responsible for one of my favourite beers, the Pink Hibiscus IPA, so I was beyond excited to visit their brewery for the first time. I had never drank any of Stumbletown’s products, so getting a taste of nearly their whole roster of liquors before consuming a couple cocktails was a treat. I highly recommend giving both places a visit, after all they are neighbours!

Odd Couple

A spur of the moment lunch date on a rainy day led to my enjoyment of a delicious bowl of chicken noodle soup. It had been a couple years since I last went to Odd Couple, and having lunch there made me regret not going more often.

Amigos Cantina

Nachos Supremo Grande. Nothing more needs to be said.

Number 1 Noodle House

I grabbed some food here with my girlfriend before we went to our first movie in over a year. Neither of us had been before and the two noodle dishes we ordered were more than enough to feed us both. We both lamented the fact that we wouldn’t be able to enjoy the spicy noodles on a cold winter’s day, so I hope lots of you do just that when the snow comes to Saskatoon!

October Authentic Asian Cuisine

I love ramen. I love the Dan Dan Ramen at October. It was a no-brainer to take my parents here when they visited so they could enjoy one of my favourite spots in the city. I’d be lying if I said I’ve only been there once in the last month. Another great restaurant to order from when the weather isn’t so friendly.

Primal Pasta

My girlfriend and I picked up one of their new pizzas on a Saturday and absolutely loved it. We had a drink on their patio while we were waiting, and the pasta dishes being eaten around us made us want to come back again. She ended up going without me, but that’s okay, at least one of us made it back.

The Yard and Flagon

The last entry has become my favourite spot in Saskatoon over the years. Living and working on Broadway made it easy to frequent the local watering hole, sometimes too easy. I’ll miss the team there, as they are one of the things that makes this city great. My weeks aren’t going to be the same without a stop at the Yard.

Well those are some of my favourite places to eat at in Saskatoon. There are plenty of other great restaurants and bars in the city, so let us know which ones are your favourite!
