One of the best parts of Halloween is all the candy and chocolate that comes around every October. I’ve already stockpiled my pantry with mini bags of M&M’s and Reeses that I will not be handing out on October 31st (I live in an apartment building so I won’t be getting any trick or treaters). But as much as sweet as the store bought candy can be, I’d say we can do better. Here are some ideas for Halloween inspired treats you can make at home for your next scary movie viewing or for celebrating the spooky night of fright!

Caramel Apples

I have to admit I was never a fan of caramel apples growing up. I didn’t even like the lollipops in the green wrappers. But I've come to enjoy them later in life. We’re not going with candy apples as the coating can be dangerous for teeth and mouths. That doesn't mean you can't go with apples though! You can decorate them with nutty garnishes or give them a more on theme coating.

You may think of Christmas when you think of chocolate bark, but the variety of chocolate in the halloween season provides a plethora of options for this super easy treat.

Pumpkin Spice Cake

I used to be on the fence about pumpkin spice desserts, but that is no longer the case. Pumpkin cakes are bursting with flavour, and if you aren’t a fan of cake, you can make pumpkin spice cookies or brownies instead!

Pumpkin Ginger Cupcakes

Pretty much everything I said previously can be said here. Pumpkin and ginger is a combination I never thought I’d love so much (why is that?!?). Put it in cupcake form and you’ll have a hard time finding something I’ll like better.
