Bourbon Eggnog

Bourbon Eggnog | Christies Bakery

There are many things that come with the Christmas season: The smells of holiday baking permeate throughout the house, Christmas songs fill the grocery store aisles 24//7, and egg nog makes its yearly return to our glasses. To spice up your holiday drink routine, we have an eggnog recipe to try out while at home over the holidays. While brandy is the usual boozy ingredient to pair with the 'nog, who says we have to follow all the traditions!

Side Note: A hand mixer or stand mixer will make this a lot easier, but it can still be made by hand (you’ll just get a good forearm workout!)

Ingredients:

4 eggs, separated
4 egg yolks
4 egg whites
⅓ cup and 1 tablespoon sugar
1 pint whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
2 ounces bourbon
1 ¼ teaspoon grated nutmeg


Step 1:
In a mixing bowl, beat the egg yolks until they lighten in colour. Slowly mix in the sugar until it is fully dissolved.

Step 2:

Add the nutmeg, bourbon, milk, and cream and mix everything together.

Step 3:
In a separate mixing bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Slowly mix in the tablespoon of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.

Step 4:
Whisk the egg whites into the eggnog base. Chill and serve!
