A Toast to Toast
Call me biased, but I don’t think there’s a lot of things better than good bread. A fresh loaf will flood your senses with feelings of warmth and happiness, not to mention how amazing it smells! With just one or two ingredients a single slice of bread can be turned into a satisfying snack or an easy and light meal. Don’t believe me? Here’s a quick list of scrumptious snacks to give you some inspiration of how to turn your slice of bread into something even more amazing! And of course, the best way to start is with a good slice of bread, so make sure to grab a loaf or two from us!
No need to get too fancy here. We’re starting our list off with the most basic, but still tasty toast. I don’t think a day goes by without me munching on a slice or two of toast with some butter lightly spread on top. And I definitely never have pasta without a slice of toast on the side.
What it’s great for: A side for salads, pasta and soup, a quick snack
We all remember the headlines from a few years ago. If a snack is the supposed reason for an entire generation going broke, it must be a darn good snack right? While avocados are on my list of feared foods, literally everyone else I know loves putting the green fruit on top of a slice of toast. And don’t worry, I don’t think it will be too big of a hit on your bank account if you’re making it at home!
What it’s great for: Breakfast, a quick and easy snack or appetizer
What to use: Whatever bread you like best, but you’ll never go wrong with a sourdough!
My version of the one topping toasty veggie snack. If you’re growing tomatoes in the garden, you better be slicing them up, seasoning them with some salt and pepper, and throwing them on a slice of toast!
What it’s great for: Breakfast, a quick and easy snack
Jam and Toast
If you’ve ever been to a cafe or diner for breakfast, you’ve no doubt had a couple slices of bread and an assortment of jams set in front of you. There’s no reason why you can’t spread your favorite jam on a slice of toast at home!
What it’s great for: A quick and easy snack or breakfast complement
What to use: Your favorite bread, but a delicious and uncommon combo is our pugliese bread and jam
Peanut Butter Toast
Unless it’s due to allergies, I haven’t met too many people that don’t like peanut butter. Crunchy or smooth is a debate that will probably never die, but what isn’t a question is that it belongs on a slice of toast!
What it’s great for: A quick, easy and light breakfast or snack
What to use: Your favorite bread, but I recommend using a grainy loaf
Throw some sliced bananas on top of your peanut butter toast, and with the slightest addition you’ve amped it up a whole heck of a lot!
What it’s great for: A quick breakfast or snack
What to use: Like peanut butter toast, a grainy bread like our kamut and sunflower sourdough goes great with peanut butter
A snack I grew up munching on, cinnamon toast is as tasty as it is nostalgic. There is no one way to make it, but if you’ve never had it before, one bite will be enough evidence to add it to your rotation of snacks.
What it’s great for: A quick snack, a morning snack, a late night snack, an anytime snack
What to use: Try to avoid any flavored or grainy breads, the focus is the cinnamony sugar topping. Our white pan bread is the perfect base for this tasty treat!
Another snack my mom would make me, cheesy toast is slightly less work than a grilled cheese, but no less tasty!
What it’s great for: A savory snack
What to use: A flavored sourdough is an easy and hassle free to add more kick to the snack
